Though Maul quickly won fans over with his striking appearance and his double-bladed lightsaber, the character was seemingly wasted in Episode I, which saw him bisected by Obi-Wan Kenobi in the final act. The character is a Zabrak from Dathomir, and it's revealed in later stories that Sidious abducted him when he was a child and trained him in the ways of the Sith.
